Pip Calculator Instructions
Input
- Spread:Input your trading point spread. The point spread is the difference between the bid and ask prices, usually expressed in points.
- Product:Choose the type of product to trade. This may include stocks, futures, forex, etc.
- Lot Size:Input your trading volume. This is the quantity of the product you intend to buy or sell.
- Currency:Choose your account currency. This will be used to calculate the actual cost of the transaction.
- Pip Size:Enter the pip size. For example, EUR/USD = 0.0001.
Result
- Pip Value:Represents the pip value corresponding to a unit price movement.
In our example:
- For most non-Japanese yen currency pairs, such as the Euro against the US dollar (EUR/USD), one pip is equal to 0.0001.
- For currency pairs related to the Japanese yen, such as the US dollar against the Japanese yen (USD/JPY), one pip is equal to 0.01.
- For precious metal commodities, such as gold against the US dollar (XAU/USD), one pip is equal to 0.01.
For instance, when the price of the Euro against the US dollar rises from 1.07370 to 1.07380, we say it has moved by 1 point (pip).
For instance, when the price of the Euro against the US dollar rises from 1.07370 to 1.07375, we say it has moved by 0.5 points (pip), or we say it has moved by 5 pipettes (point).
